VARIOUS "Undercover"
VARIOUS "Undercover"

A real nice prog tribute disc from the artists of 10t Records. From.UZ play a startlingly original version of King Crimson's "Starless and Bible Black". The Vital Might play A Perfect Circle's "Sleeping Beauty". Little Atlas do "Battle of Evermore" by Led Zeppelin. Then, Man On Fire play Japan's Visions of China". Next we get Frogg Cafe with an absolutely scorching version of The Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Dance of the Maya"! Bolt do a heavy version of Kraftwerk's "Das Model". Fluttreffect perform a really nice proggy version of Duran Duran's "The Chauffer" (yes, DD real did make the occassional prog noise!). Everything In Seven does "Man on the Corner" by Genesis. Elf Project run through a very convincing version of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" by Pink Floyd. The Rebel Wheel put their own stamp on "Cross-Eyed Mary" by Jethro Tull. And finally we get a rendition of the late Kevin Gilbert's "The Best Laid Plans" by Steve Katsikias (keyboardist for the nationally acclaimed Pink Floyd tribute band Dark Side of the Wall.) Well, there you have it. A somewhat unorthodox but very satisfying tribute showing that prog, in many people's eyes, extends far beyond a handful of British bands from the 70s! While I can't say this will be for everyone, I found it very surprising how much I enjoyed it, given I don't usually like "tributes". This one scratched my prog itch very well indeed!
