SPECIAL BUY! We got a quantity of this excellent CD by Swiss avant rockers Uberfall at a really good price. The band put out 4 great avant rock albums from 1986 to 1991 before calling it a day. Led by saxophonist Markus Stauss (also providing flutes, keyboards & sequencing and some vocals) who is joined by Pit Kayser on keyboards & vocals, Andi Muckenhirm on drums & percussion with contributions by Jean Chaine on bass, Caroline Fahrni on violin and Andre Muller on alto & baritone saxes. The best parts musically are like the best rock-oriented things on the Cuneiform label (Rattlemouth, Blast, etc) or like a rocked-out Curlew! There are some moments that are probably humourous if you understand the language but might be otherwise lost on Anglo-centric ears. Many Zappa-esque moments and some hints at Gong, too. This is a compilation CD from their first 3 long out-of-print LPs and gives us about half each of the first two albums and nearly all of the 3rd. If you like any of the names dropped above, this should appeal to you. And for $5 you can't go wrong with a CD full of Markus Stauss' fantastic sax playing (assuming you enjoy fantastic sax playing)! Heck, why not buy 2 or 3? They make great gifts for your musically adventurous friends or relatives!
