A couple of years back a local Louisville guy started a progressive rock site/bulletin board where he got lots of discussions going. There happened to be alot of musicians tuned in and eventually everyone started talking about contributing pieces for a 'labour-of-love' compilation CD that would be pressed and distributed by the site. Well, here it is! Originally it was just supposed to have unreleased music by all involved but it evolved into a hybrid of released pieces, pieces that were given to the project before they were on any release by the artist & items written especially for the project that will likely never be available elsewhere. Artists include, Easter Island, French TV, Rockenfield & Speer, Trap, Ken Watson, Man in Space, Ian Naismith, Velvet Chain, Exploding Monsters, Visual Cliff, Lennart Stahle, Matthew Walker, and Systems Theory. Musically it explores territory from experimental electronics to technical instrumental prog, to heavy melodic progressive, to a sort of 'sampled' fusion. I was a little skeptical as to how such a project would hold up as a start-to-finish listen, but I must say it works pretty well. And you get tracks unavailable elsewhere by Ken Watson, Systems Theory, Easter Island, a.o. In fact the only tracks that have been released outside of this collection are French TV (available on "The Case Against Art"), Trap (available on "Insurrection") and Ian Naismith (on his latest release). And we are selling it for a very good price so it is a great sampler to check ot some new sounds.
