DC-area group merging rock, jazz, funk and fusion into a free-flowing style that is both friendly and accessible and also, at the same time, slightly avant-garde. The title implies an avant-garde focus that never really comes through to a great extent. The music is very tonal without even a lot of dissonance. While the album focuses on original compositions there are two covers that are really interesting choices. Ornette Coleman's "Una Muy Bonita" and Kool & the Gang's "Let the Music Take Your Mind" both recorded live and added to the end of the album almost as an afterthought. If you enjoy instrumental rock music with a certain funk element and a hint of jazz then this is for you.
